The Assembly theme was chosen by Sipiwe Chisvo, the World President 2022-26 . It is inspired by
Isaiah 60:1 (NIV) ‘Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.’ The logo was designed by another women from Zimbabwe, and it was reproduced on tote bags, T shirts, badges and earrings!
Speakers encouraged us to think how we might ‘Arise and Shine’ in our journey with God. How we might shine the light of Christ into the world that is in such great need of hope, healing and guidance.
A prayer room, prepared by Ligia Istrate, the editor of the Tree of Life newsletter, guided us through a number of prayer stations, each one inspired by the long journey of the Israelites through the wilderness on their way to the promised land.
A bible study, led by UK minister Rev Jenny Pathmarajah on the story of Samson and Delilah, encouraged us to think again about the ‘bad press’ Delilah was given by the writers of the bible.

To ponder:
How might I ‘Arise and Shine’ to reflect the light of Christ in my community?
A prayer:
We have to be candles, burning between hope and despair, faith and doubt, life and death, all the opposites.
That is the disquieting place where people must always find us. (William Brodrick)
