WL Course in September 2025
Worship Leading Course
The course is for people who feel a call to lead aspects of worship. It will be necessary for those wishing to be recognised as Worship Leaders in their church to attend all the sessions.
It may also be a refresher for those already recognised as worship leaders or indeed local preachers as part of ongoing learning and development.
You will also be very welcome to join if you are just interested in the subject!
The sessions will be held at:
Wesley Methodist Church, Fromond Road, Winchester, SO22 6EG.
Mondays at 7.30pm
8 and 22 September
6 and 20 October
3 November
The sessions will last 90 mins each and be led by Revd Dr Howard Mellor with involvement from Circuit Ministers, and experienced Local Preachers and Worship Leaders. There is also an option for those wishing to be acknowledged as Worship Leaders to attend the Local Preachers and Worship Leaders Meeting on 18 November.
The course will be interactive with input, sharing, working on topics and Q&A. Outline notes of the sessions will be available at the end of each session. The sessions are fortnightly to allow time for reflection and preparation.
Those who participate fully in the course will receive a certificate. For those who wish to be recognised as Worship Leaders (though there is no obligation), notification will be given to their Minister and Church Council. Experienced Worship leaders will be encouraged to support and encourage those beginning this journey of service.

Worship Leading: Explore Weekend: September 2025
Learning together is at the heart of the Worship: Leading & Preaching course for local preachers and worship leaders in the Methodist Church. Students belong to a Tutor Group in their circuit or district, but it is not always possible to meet with a wider group to talk through what you’ve learned and the questions that arise.
Explore Weekends provide that opportunity - come join us at Salisbury this September.

All existing Local Preachers and Worship Leaders from across the connexion are also welcome to attend on Saturday only for a day of learning and development to inspire us and grow our skills and understanding. The sessions will be relevant to all those who lead worship, or wish to become involved. A great opportunity to meet with others, compare experiences and ideas and do some continuing development.
